Hey there, hi there Sara! Welcome, and thank you and your husband both for your service and sacrifices.
Walt Disney World has been both thoughtful and generous in its recognition of our service men and women, and I know my family has been very grateful for the opportunities we've had as a result.
The special ticket offer you are probably most familiar with is the
Military Salute offer. These discounted
theme park tickets are available to eligible service members, including those who are 100% service-connected disabled. Depending upon your VA disability rating, you may be eligible for those tickets.
If you fall under the 2018 John McCain Defense Authorization Act (Purple Heart recipient, former POW, any service-connected disability), you can purchase slightly discounted tickets at your local military base. You do want to call someone before you head over there, though, because they don't always have tickets in stock.
Any honorably discharged military veteran with a DD-214 that doesn't qualify for the other tickets can purchase slightly discounted tickets through
Shades of Green, but only if you are staying at this Armed Forces Recreation Center, which is located on Disney property. Veterans who did not retire from military service can stay at the resort in the months of January and September.
With any of these tickets, you do still need to make a
theme park reservation to enter the parks.
I hope you are able to find one of these options available to you to help shave some money off of the vacation budget, Sara.
Happy planning!
Anna
