My husband is deployed so I’m surprising my kids with a trip to Disney. We have the 5 day military promotional MYW tickets. My question; can I add a day to that ticket? If so how much additional would that cost?

    Hi Sara!

Let me say a big, double-ear cheers and congratulations for surviving a deployment!! I'm an Air Force wife and we've celebrated two homecomings at Walt Disney World Resort. It's the perfect place to spend that precious reintegration time and enjoy each other. Your kids will love the vacation location almost as much as they'll love spending time with dad!!

For the longest time the Disney U.S. Military Promotional Ticket, aka the 'Armed Forces Salute', was only a 4-Day Park Hopper ticket. The 5-Day option was added in 2017, as well as a special Military price for the 'Park Hopper Plus' ticket. Sadly, there isn't a way to add an extra day to these tickets for a discounted rate like how days can be added to a Magic Your Way ticket. But the reason is actually kind of cool. Military tickets don't expire 14 days after their first use like standard tickets, so that means you can spend a few days at Disney in the spring and then return to The Most Magical Place On Earth during the holidays. (Or however you'd like to schedule it.)

What you should be able to do is upgrade your current tickets to the Military Park Hopper Plus option for $40 per person. While it won't be an extra day in one of Disney's Theme Parks, the Plus means each member of your family will receive five 'Fun Visits' to be used at either Water Park, on a round of golf (mini or regular), or admission to ESPN's Wide World of Sports. You can schedule these activities however you'd like, including spending all day at Disney's Blizzard Beach or Disney's Typhoon Lagoon for five full days, or doubling up by going mini golfing after a morning in one of the theme parks. And best of all, these Fun Visits also do not expire until the end of this calendar year should you be able to come back.

Congratulations again to your whole family, Sara, and We'll See You Real Soon!
