Hi Breanna,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! My family LOVES the
Disney Deluxe Dining Plan but we also eat quite a bit! As you determine if this is the best plan for you, here are my thoughts.
When using a Disney Dining Plan, you can specify the number of meals being redeemed but there are a few points to consider. At character dining experiences, the character experience is considered part of the meal, so each of you would need to use the required number of meal credits for that restaurant. At family-style and buffet restaurants, you also would need to use the requisite number of meal credits per person.
On the Deluxe Dining Plan, we have enjoyed the best dining experiences. We love having the appetizer and dessert in addition to the entrée at lunch and dinner. Having said that, it can be a lot of food, so if you all are not big eaters, you may have meal credits leftover at the end of your trip. In practice, we have found it easier to split quick-service meals. When we dine at table-service restaurants, everyone wants different entrées.
Breanna, as you try to determine if the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan is a good value for your husband and you, I urge you to actually plan out your meals for each day of the trip. I always create a chart with restaurants listed along with number of meal credits required for each restaurant. I calculate the maximum number of meal credits we would use assuming we do not share any meals. Remember that your meals are allotted based on nights of stay. So for a six-night trip, each of you would get 18 meals on the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan. We typically eat at a few signature restaurants on the Deluxe Dining Plan and those can require two meal credits per person.
Happy planning!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
