Hi Emmy!
Welcome to planDisney!
I am so happy to see that your trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth is just around the corner!
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opened last year, just after my last visit, so I have yet to experience this amazing attraction. It still continues to be extremely popular, so we need to be prepared. I would always recommend you arrive in good time, to ensure you are actually scanned into the park with plenty of time before the first virtual queues open at 10.00am.
Boarding Groups are still offered, with requests to join the virtual queue opening at 10.00am or 2.00pm every day, after you have entered
Disney's Hollywood Studios. Have your My Disney Experience mobile app open, and select “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Virtual Queue” on the home screen of My Disney Experience, where you will see the current status and next steps for joining the virtual queue.
As I do not have first-hand experience of this, I sought advice from my friend, and fellow panelist
Jason, who has experienced Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance a few times, and gave me his best advice for securing your boarding pass: Start refreshing the virtual queue screen on the app 30 seconds before either 10.00am or 2.00pm. Check that everyone who is on your Family & Friends list, who has also scanned into the park that day, is already selected (this should have happened automatically). It's important to have only have one member of your party login on the same account - choose whichever one of you has the fastest fingers to navigate quickly around the screens.
Once you have secured your place in the queue, you can enjoy your day at the park until it's time to return to
Black Spire Outpost on the Planet Batuu.
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway opened in March this year and is said to be another 'must-see' attraction so please ensure you include that in your plans! I am really excited to see all of these new attractions as soon as I can return!
We may need a little more considered and careful planning, but our vacations to Walt Disney World Resort can still be a magical experience. Please read this information about
Returning to a World of Magic, and
Parks and Tickets: Know Before You Go, and keep watching the Disney Parks Blog for all the latest official updates.
Please come back and ask as many questions as you like! We are always happy to help you plan your vacation.
