My husband, daughter, 11 & I are returning to Disney this March. Last trip, March '12 we stayed at POR and loved it. We are looking at the value resorts, but don't want to be disappointed. Can you tell me the major differences? Thanks!

Greetings Dionne!  Thanks for visiting us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I love staying at both value resorts and moderate resorts at Walt Disney World.  I have stayed at almost all of the resorts in both categories and love them all for different reasons.  We decide between a value or moderate resort based on what our itinerary is for the vacation.  If we are doing a quick trip with no time to spend at the resort except for to sleep, we always go with a value.  If we have some time in our trip to have a relaxing day to really enjoy the resort and the pool, I typically book us a moderate resort.  The rooms in a moderate resort are slightly larger than those at a value resort, but just slightly.  That alone is not a big enough difference to make me choose one over the other.  Most standard value rooms have 2 double beds or 1 king bed, whereas moderate resorts generally have 2 queen size beds or one king bed.  To me, the biggest differences are the pool areas.  Moderate resorts have water slides and hot tubs at the pool and value resorts do not.  With all that being said, I have honestly enjoyed our stay at value resorts just as much as the moderates.  I happen to love Disney's Pop Century Resort and recommend it to my friends all of the time.

No matter where you stay, I have a feeling you are going to have a great vacation.  If I can help you with any other questions you may have, I'd love for you to ask me.

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
