My husband and my daughter and I are cruising on the Disney Dream starting Feb 13, 2011! We're so excited! My daughter is five and not a strong swimmer. What are the best ideas for excursions on Castaway Cay and in Nassau for our family/fun for her?

Oh, Jill -- you are on the final countdown, aren't you?! I'm so excited that your turn to sail the new Disney Dream is very, very soon. The ship is beautiful, and there are surprises, excitement and enchantment aboard for you and your family!

As far as planning your shore excursions, I often suggest to families not to plan anything for Castaway Cay -- that's the beauty of this wonderful island! You may want to rent some floats or tubes or perhaps a cabana if you want your own little slice of paradise. Yet, I think the best part is taking the island like a true castaway...easy and carefree. The only exception I would make to this "rule of thumb" is if a family has teens...a Port Adventure keeps them occupied and "forces" them to meet other teens. If you insist on a Castaway Cay Port Adventure, our family's favorite has been the Extreme Getaway Package -- which includes the stingray encounter, tube/float rental and bike rental.

If you've never seen Nassau, I recommend that you either book one of the sight-seeing tours such as the See and Sea Island Tour, and if you've never visited The Atlantis resort, it is something to see and experience. The tours which include the aquarium and the Aquaventure (water park) are amazing and fun, and there are several attractions for small children. Of course, staying on the ship is a great option, too!

I hope this helps you plan. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
