My husband & I are considering DVC for my family (sons, ages 7,9, daughter 4), but have heard there can be challenges with room options/availability for families of 5. What are your thoughts? Suggestions for "homes"? Benefits of owning 2 co

    Hi Amy!
My family of five has been Disney Vacation Club members since 2003, and we have two home resorts: Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa and Animal Kingdom Villas.  We have never had a problem finding a room for our family.  The one bedroom villas at Animal Kingdom Villas, Bay Lake Tower, Aulani, Old Key West Resort, Vero Beach Resort, and the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa accommodate five guest quite comfortably.  If you need more space or are inviting friends, the two bedroom villas are wonderful.  The benefits of your home resort are that you are able to reserve a villa or studio 11 months in advance versus seven months for other resorts.  This gives you an advantage to have the days or weeks you would like especially around busy times such as the Holidays.  All the resorts have a different theme and feel to them, and I love being able to stay at many different villas!  I love Saratoga Springs as a home resort.  You also have the benefit of reserving one of the Treehouse Villas which are stand alone houses nestled in the trees.  Your really feel immersed in nature.  Aulani would also be an amazing home resort.  Set on the beautiful beaches of Hawaii, this newest Disney resort is such a fantastic treasure! Animal Kingdom Lodge is very exotic and there is something surreal about waking up and seeing zebra and giraffes right outside your window.  Bay Lake Tower has a wonderful location right on the monorail, and you are able to see fireworks from the Magic Kingdom in some of the rooms!  These would be my suggestions for home resorts for you!
