My husband and I are comming to disney Jan. 20-27. We are flying from Columbus OH, and I am concered that our flight might be delayed or canceled. How do we make sure we keep our reservation if our flight is canceled by a day?

I have been flying to WDW during the Winter months since I was a young child growing up in snowy Rochester NY. I've sat on many runways waiting for the plane to be de-iced and again.

Just have a back-up plan. For example, consider calling the airline and see if they can get you on an earlier flight if a storm warning for your travel day has been released.

Prior to leaving for the airport, check to see if your flight is on time. As soon as you get to the airport, check again.

Have your airline's phone number programmed into your phone. Call the airline if your flight is canceled to get re-scheduled on the next flight out. This is a better alternative than standing in the long line that will form at the airport. The passengers will be nervous about getting another flight.

Stay calm and call. If you have your laptop with you, you can also go online. Do not get in the line. Call, get booked on the next available flight, make sure you have assigned seats, then go to the desk to pick up your ticket.

This happened to my family in June and before I even hung up the phone, our names were being called to come to the front of the line to get our tickets.

If you will be arriving Orlando a day later, call your hotel to notify them. If you are staying on property, simply call 407-W-DISNEY.

You'll also need to call Disney's Magical Express or your car rental agency.

As long as you are prepared for a delay, you'll be fine. Sometimes my husband keeps his calendar clear a couple days before and after a trip so if we are delayed then he doesn't have to cancel appointments.

After you work out your travel arrangements, while waiting for the next flight you will have time to contact your hotel.
