My husband and I are coming in Dec. for our 15th anniversary. Want to stay at port Orleans. What are the main differences between POFQ and POR and which do you recommend for a romantic getaway?

    Hi Jeanne!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside are the only two Disney Moderate Resorts that I recommend if you don't have your own car.  That is because I think the other Disney Moderate Resorts are too large and too spread out without having a car to help you get around both the resort and the rest of Walt Disney World.

I think many guests would say that Port Orleans French Quarter is the most romantic of the two based on its theming.  It is definitely a smaller resort.  However, I prefer Port Orleans Riverside.  Port Orleans Riverside has a better Quick Service food court and an actual Table Service restaurant.  It also has a nicer pool, especially if you enjoy water slides.  The water slide at Port Orleans French Quarter is really designed for very young children; the water slide at Port Orleans Riverside is fun even for adults!

The good news is you can walk between the two resorts in about 10 to 15 minutes depending on how fast you walk.  You can also take a boat between the two resorts.  As a guest of either, you are allowed to use all of the service and amenities of the other.  That includes pool hopping, which basically not allowed at Walt Disney World, but you can do it here.

It is not an easy decision so good luck!  Please write back with more questions!
