Hi! My husband and I will be celebrating our recent wedding at Disneyland on 11/12/23. He had gum surgery the other day and can only eat soft food. What are some good options that he can eat? He's a massive foodie and I'd hate for him to miss out.

    Hello, Wendy,

Congratulations on your recent wedding! I'm thrilled you will be celebrating such a special occasion at The Happiest Place on Earth!

I have a family member who also had surgery that required that they adjust their diet afterward to only consume soft foods for a while. So can understand the challenge it can be to enjoy your vacation without special dietary needs distracting too much. I'm happy to share some of my favorite Disneyland Resort foods that may still be suitable for your husband to enjoy.

First of all, the Disneyland Resort recognizes that nourishing yourself according to individual dietary needs and restrictions is important to fully enjoy your visit. With that, you are more than welcome to bring along your own meals, snacks, and nonalcoholic beverages. As long as your food items conform to the Disneyland Resort rules, you'll be able to keep yourselves fueled for fun!

Of course, I hope there are still plenty of delicious meals and treats you and your husband can enjoy at the Disneyland Resort. Many dining locations can make limited accommodations for special dietary requests, especially when advanced notice is provided to the Special Diets team.

I highly recommend browsing the regular and special menus that are published for dining locations listed in the Disneyland mobile app. Here are a few items that I hope are both appropriate and scrumptious for you.

    • Tomato Basil Soup from the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe
    • Mac & Cheese is usually found on the kids' menus but is typically available to order in adult portions as well from various locations. One example entree from the adult menu at Carnation Café is the Braised Short Rib. The meat is very tender and delicious. But if it's still not soft enough to enjoy beyond just a taste, the house-made Mac & Cheese included with it may be.
    • Beef Birria Ramen from Lucky Fortune Cookery may be appropriate if focusing on the soft noodles and savory broth
    • Plaza Inn offers some delicious Penne Pasta that may be soft enough to enjoy. And I recommend asking if they might be able to provide just a side of their delicious mashed potatoes.
    • Tomato Soup or a Featured Soup from Earl of Sandwich in the Downtown Disney District

Don't forget the frozen treats, including:

I hope you enjoy your time at the Disneyland Resort, Wendy. May you make marvelously magical memories to match your matrimonial merriment at the Disneyland Resort.
