Hi there Melissa, and wishing you a very warm Canadian welcome to planDisney!
Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary - it must've been really special being able to say that you got married during
The 50th Anniversary Celebration at Walt Disney World Resort, and will be celebrating as
The Walt Disney Company celebrates its own milestone of 100 years! My husband and
I recently got married at the Most Magical Place on Earth and have spent a lot of time
looking at Disney Floral and Gifts, while trying out a number of different experiences that you both might be able to take advantage of when you visit this summer!
While there aren't necessarily any official perks that couples are entitled to receive on their anniversary, you might be fortunate enough to be bestowed with a little extra bit of magic here and there if you let the right people know that you're celebrating! Here are a few of my Princely Picks, Tips and Tricks to make the most of your anniversary trip:
- Pick up a free Celebration Button from Guest Relations either at the front desk of your Disney Resort Hotel or near the entrance of each Theme Park; we have even experienced other Cast Members at other locations present us with Celebration buttons produced out of nowhere as if by magic. The current design features the words "Happily Ever After" on a purple button, and a friendly Cast Member may even write down your Anniversary date on it!
- Whenever you make a Dining Reservation, be sure to take any opportunity you might have to add a note to the reservation that you'll be celebrating your anniversary. In our experience, we also make sure to slip it into our first conversation with our host/server and have sometimes received a special surprise at the end of the meal. Since this is entirely up to each location and subject to their own policies and availability it's not something that we expect, but when it does happen - we make sure to recognize the Cast Members for making extra magic for us.
- There is however a way that you can guarantee a special sweet surprise with your meal; you may be able to include a special Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake that is available at over 40 dining locations resort-wide! This can be ordered in advance as you make your dining reservations or even in-person at the host podium as long as it is at least 4 days before the date of your reservation.
- We purchased Memory Maker for our most recent trip and in our experience, once the PhotoPass photographer is made aware that you're celebrating a special occasion like an anniversary, they may do their best to make the moment feel extra special. We recently booked a Capture Your Moment photo session; as long as you're not wearing what can be considered "wedding attire" or clothing that drags on the ground, they were happy for us to dress nicely and take photos with unique anniversary props!
Congrats again, and please come back any time to
ask me questions about special celebrations at Disney Destinations.
Wishing you all the best on your Anniversary Adventure!
