My husband and I are celebrating my 50th birthday and our 25th anniversary by dining our way through WDW in early June! We are splurging on VA but what else do you recommend? And how do I know when to make a res when event times haven't been released?

    Hi Elizabeth,

You are a woman after my own heart! My husband and I each celebrated our 50th birthdays with dinners at the California Grill, and we spent our 25th anniversary at Epcot, hitting our favorite spots for food and drink around the World Showcase.

You are off to a fabulous start with a reservation at Victoria & Albert's. That's one of only about six Walt Disney World restaurants we haven't tried but maybe for our next milestone.

Other celebratory ideas: You can't go wrong with any of the signature dining restaurants. Besides California Grill, our favorites are Artist Point, Narcoossee's, Flying Fish Cafe and Jiko.

We also love to eat, relax and enjoy an adult beverage in a number of the resort lounges. There's tasty food and an intimate atmosphere in many of them. Plus, you get a chance to explore the resorts. Our tops are Territory Lounge at Wilderness Lodge, Crew's Cup Lounge at the Yacht Club resort and Meisner's Lounge at the Grand Floridian.

The Tutto Gusto wine cellar at Epcot is also an intimate place for a nosh and a glass of wine.

Can I also suggest you look at a special tour such as the Wild Africa Trek at Animal Kingdom? It's really fun, and it includes great food, served in a pavilion overlooking the savanna.

I also recommend the spa at the Grand Floridian for a couples massage or pedicures.

Early June is the start of the busy summer season, so I would make reservations as soon as possible. You can always adjust if there's a special event that pops up, such as the Harambe Nights parties that were a big hit last year.

Theme park hours tend to be extended around that time to accommodate summer guests, so you should be able to get in as much park time as you want.

I'm limited on space, but please write back if I can offer any other suggestions for you about dining or other celebrations at Walt Disney World. Enjoy!
