my husband has cancer and we are not sure what the affects of chemotherapy may be in the heat. What can be done to make him more comfortable?

    Hi Pamela,

First of all my thoughts are with you, your husband and your family as you fight and win your husband's battle with cancer.  I am assuming you have your doctor's permission to take a vacation to Walt Disney World Resort, I would recommend asking for some guidelines for your husband to follow while away on vacation.  Sharing this special time with your family will allow you to bring some joy back into your lives, forget about your struggles temporarily and create memories that will last forever.

When you arrive at your first Theme Park, stop by guest relations to pick up a Guest Assistance Card.  Once you explain your medical condition to the Cast Member, they will issue you a card specific to your husband, allowing him certain accommodations around the Theme Parks.  This will allow your husband to use an alternate entrance where you will be able to avoid the queue, and get out of the sun.

In terms of managing the size of the Theme Parks, I would take things slowly.  Build rest into your day.  Some of my happiest memories are when we are simply taking it easy browsing in the shops or exploring the Pavilions at World Showcase.  There is so much to experience indoors at Walt Disney World, try to balance your attractions where you spend some time outside, followed by experiencing something indoors.  Take a look at the attractions found in each of the Theme Parks and have a general plan of where you would enjoy spending some time indoors and out of the heat.

I hope my suggestions help Pamela.  Please let me know if you have any other questions regarding accommodations or anything else while planning your upcoming trip.  Stay strong and good luck!
