My husband and I will be brining our girls (who will be 2 and 4) to WDW for the 1st time in Sept. and we have purchased the dining plan. When buying a counter service meal do you have to purchase all components together (meal, drink, dessert)? Thank you!

You do have to buy all the components together.  We will often try to buy things that we can save for later.  For example, my husband will get a large diet coke and we will share that while I get a bottle of water that we can drink as we stroll through the park later.  If the weather is not too hot, we will get a fruit salad as dessert and carry that around with us.  We have also found that the "rice crispy-like" treats and the cookies travel well.

We have also been able to get three snack out of the counter service credit.  During our last trip, we had lunch at 12 noon and our dinner reservations weren't until 7pm.  Around 4pm we got a hot dog combo meal.  My husband had the hot dog, while my daughter and I split french fries and a yogurt parfait (dessert).

I have asked cashiers if I could get an extra drink or a box of cereal as a dessert.  They've never allowed it.

Meet the Panelist: Michelle, New Jersey

I have been fortunate enough to be on the Walt Disney World Moms Panel since 2008.  As a Disney World enthusiast, I can’t imagine a greater opportunity.  My husband, our 6-year-old daughter, and I visit WDW a few times a year.
