My husband and I are bringing our two children 4 and 2 yrs. to DW in Oct. I was wondering what there is for our 2yr old to do? I was also wondering about the typical weather in Oct. Thanks for any help that can be offered.

Although all kids are different, our 2-year old loved the characters. We had many character meals and stopped to visit characters at every opportunity. All of the playgrounds were a Must See, including the Magic Kingdom's Toon Park, the Animal Kingdom’s Boneyard and the Honey I Shrunk the Kids park at Hollywood Studios.

The monorail was the biggest hit and we could have rode that without a park hopper! All trains were magical. We spent time riding the WDW railroad as well as the Wildlife Express train in the Animal Kingdom.

    Rides and attractions:
    Tomorrowland Indy Speedway
    Tomorrowland Transit Authority
    Peter Pan
    Winnie the Pooh
    Dumbo
    Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel
    Jungle Cruise
    Magic Carpets of Aladdin
    Pirates of the Caribbean
    Tom Sawyer Island
    Magic Kingdom afternoon parade
    Playhouse Disney
    Festival of the Lion King
    Pocahontas
    TriceraTop Spin
Electrical Water Pageant on Seven Seas Lagoon

Animals were another huge attraction. Our son loved watching them from our balcony at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but he was just as happy watching squirrels and ducks in the Magic Kingdom. I really had to change our itinerary to allow for animal watching breaks. It was nice to slow down and notice details about the parks that I often missed when rushing between attractions. The Kilimanjaro Safaris, Maharajah Jungle Trek, Pangani Forest Trail and The Oasis at Animal Kingdom were also fun.

We made many stops at fountains. The grandparents learned to keep change handy for all wishing places, including Cinderella’s Wishing Well. Parades were eye-openers. Fireworks were admired from a far due to fear of loud noises. There is plenty to keep a young child busy and seeing the magic through their young eyes is refreshing.

October weather: Average temps are in the high 80s/high 60s in the beginning of the month and low 80s/low 60s by the last couple of weeks. The rainy season is over but be prepared for some light showers.
