My husband and I are booked on our first cruise onboard the Disney Wonder from Sydney on the 16-20 Jan sailing. We really want to do Palo for dinner but do not know which night to try book it. We don’t want to miss Animator’s & Tiana’s and Pirates!

Cheers, Andrew, and welcome to planDisney! I’m delighted to hear you’re about to embark upon your very first Disney Cruise! There are so many tips and tricks I want to share, but first, let me address the reason you sailed by in the first place.

You’re in for a true adventure on your 4-Night Disney Magic at Sea Cruise from Sydney. My first tip is to download the free Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. Not only will it display an adorable Disney emoticon countdown before your trip, but once you’re onboard, it will give you the most up-to-date schedules for everything from showtimes to activities. This is also where you’ll be able to check your dining schedule and theme nights.

Unfortunately, at this point, I cannot look into my crystal ball to tell you your exact dining rotation, but I can share that your Pirate Night is scheduled for Night 3 after your day in Hobart. In addition to an incredible Deck Party after dinner, turn your attention to the night sky afterwards, where you’ll see the finest fireworks display at sea (weather-permitting, of course).

I don’t blame you for not wanting to miss any of the fabulous rotational dining experiences. While Animator’s Palate will always have a special place in my heart, I just know you’re going to love the food and festivities at Tiana’s Place! (Just make sure you save enough room for beignets for dessert! Or better yet, order them as an appetizer so you don’t have to wait.) If you want, you can always book a Palo reservation now and then adjust it with the dining team on embarkation day after your nightly schedule is revealed.

As a fun way to commemorate your trip, make sure to stop by Guest Services to pick up a special celebratory button. I also recommend bringing your own reusable cup for the complimentary soda stations on the pool deck (you’ll also find a selection of hot teas and coffee there as well). I’ve even been known to fill my mug with the free soft-serve ice cream first before adding soda to make an ice cream float before watching my favorite Disney films on Funnel Vision by the pool. Speaking of lounging by the pool, it's helpful to throw some towel clips in your beach bag to not only secure your towel amidst the sea breeze, but also to discern your chairs from your fellow scalawags onboard.

I could go on and on, Andrew, but suffice it to say that if you need any other advice, from what to pack or when to book Port Adventures, you can put our service to the test again here at planDisney!

    SEA ya real soon!
