My husband would like to avoid fireworks due to a PTSD diagnosis resulting from military service in Iraq. Any tips?

Hi Keri!  I know many guests can't wait to observe and be in the parks during the fireworks and most of our questions relate to that.  I completely understand your issue as my own brother could not enjoy the fireworks for many years after his service in Viet Nam.

I would suggest you not stay in the Yacht or Beach Club resort or the Boardwalk resort.  The Illuminations show noise from the fireworks can rebound off the buildings when the wind is blowing in that direction and it can be quite loud if you are sensitive to the sounds.  The Magic Kingdom resorts are not quite as close so the noise is not as loud there.

EPCOT has a nightly Illuminations show at 9:00pm during most months but during December that can move to 9:30pm.  The Magic Kingdom has fireworks almost nightly but the times can change.  Fantasmic in Hollywood Studios has some noise and fireworks in that show as well but it is not nightly.  The best thing to do is to head to the calendar page, please click HERE, and set each park's calendar to the dates you will be there and then click on the date and the entertainment schedule will show. It will tell you exactly the times for the fireworks etc.  From that information you can plan on leaving the parks before the shows begin or you can find an attraction inside or some dining inside but for the most part you will hear some of the noise no matter what unless you leave the park.

I think as long as you know the park schedules you will be fine in being able to avoid the fireworks.  Have a great and magical time!
