My husband will be arriving to Disney the day after I get there with the kids. He plans to come to the park directly from the airport. Can I leave his pass at the front gate for him to pick up?

You know, Heather, while I've picked plenty of things up at Will Call, I've never left anything there.  The items I've picked up from there have always been left by Disney Cast Members; I'm not sure whether or not guests can use Will Call as a grab-and-go location.  You can certainly ask once you arrive.  If I were you, though, I'd be prepared with a back up plan.  If you and your hubby both have cell phones, he can call you about thirty minutes before he arrives at the gate of whichever park you're in.  Most likely, that will give you plenty of time to make your way there and meet him.  You can exit the park, give him his tickets, and then re-enter together.  Enjoy your trip!
