Hello, My husband and I along with our 8yro and 6yro are interested in going on a disney cruise. What is the best route about doing that and would a AAA card save us. We are on a really tight budget and would like to go in April or June of 2012.

    Hi, Teresa!

Congratulations on considering Disney Cruise Line (DCL) for a family vacation!  As a family of six, we've never regretted any of our resources spent on Disney Cruises -- we always feel our time aboard is well worth our investment, and we keep sailing with DCL time and time again.

As a general rule, cruise fares are based on tiered pricing and the further out you book, the greater the advantage. So, that's one "discount" you're going to want to take advantage of -- the time factor. In addition, you'll definitely want to have your local AAA office quote you a Disney cruise package. You usually can save up to 10 percent or receive perks (such as shipboard credits) by booking with AAA.

In addition, if you are somewhat flexible on your schedule, you can have Disney and AAA quote you on various times of the year, different itineraries and all four ships. There are many factors which will drive cruise fares including seasons, availability of the different ships and popularity of itineraries. Plus, I encourage you to price out an all-inclusive trip to Disney parks and resorts and realize that a DCL vacation is priced similarly. I think you'll be surprised at the value.

I hope this helps you plan and gives you a starting point. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
