Hi. My husband & I, along with our three kids (12, 8 & 5) hope to be visiting Disney for the first time in Sept 2012. Can you recommend a place to stay for the budget conscious family? Any tips to save some money? Every penny counts!

    Hi Nancy,

Thanks so much for writing.  First trips are extra magical, in my opinion.  How exciting that yours is "in the works!"  If you are looking for cost-effective accommodations that have all of the magic and special perks and amenities of any Walt Disney World Resort, I recommend considering a Disney Value Resort.  All of the Value Resorts have wonderfully-appointed rooms, fabulous, well-themed pools, lots of activities and great counter-service restaurants with a huge assortment of options sure to satisfy everyone in your family.  These are the most economical of the Disney resorts.  Nevertheless, you will still be able to use Disney's Magical Express, a free luggage and transportation service from Orlando International Airport (which will allow you to save money on a rental car or taxi from the airport) as well as Disney's transportation once on site in order to get to and from your resort to the theme parks and other recreational areas. In addition, by staying on-site, you will be able to utilize Extra Magic Hours, where one theme park opens early and/or stays open late each night exclusively for Disney Resort guests. We love Disney's Pop Century and All Star Sports Resorts, however, all of the Value Resorts are a great choice to call "home" while on your vacation.

    Happy planning!
