Hi! Hubby (of nearly 25 years) is a recently retired veteran. What ideas do you have so I can do something special for his 29 years in uniform? First trip to WDWwith family is in 4 months. We honeymooned at WDW in July 1985!

Hi Rochelle! Congratulations and bless your husband for his 29 years of serving our country! He is greatly appreciated as you are for being at his side along the way.

What a great opportunity to celebrate at Walt Disney World.  The first thing that came to my mind to honor your husband is to see if you can get him to be a participant in the flag lowering on Main Street of the Magic Kingdom.  This can be done by stopping at City Hall first thing as the park opens to put his name on the list.  If you are planning several days this will give you even more opportunity to have this happen.  It is quite a beautiful ceremony with the band and honor guard lowering the flag each evening.  It is one of the last memories my dad had of his many trips to Disney before his passing.  He took part in the ceremony as a World War II purple heart veteran.  He was so proud and I have his picture to remind me of that special moment today!

You can complete the day and evening by surprising him with a special dinner at one of the resorts.  Citricos at the Grand Floridian is a great family place for a nice stress free dining opportunity.  Other locations that are similar would be California Grill in the Contemporary or the Yachtsman Steakhouse in the Yacht Club resort. Dining reservation number is: 407-939-3463

A final idea would be to book a fireworks cruise for either the Wishes show in the Magic Kingdom or the Illuminations show at EPCOT. You can order a special cake or food (snacks and sodas come with the cruise) to add the extra touch.  Cruises can be booked by calling 407-939-7529.
