Hey there, hi there, ho there, Kelly! You’re as welcome as can be to planDisney! I love helping my fellow Californians with their questions, so let’s get started!
Unfortunately, I’m sad to report that the Disneyland Resort theme parks and hotels
are temporarily closed, and will reopen at a later date, pending state and local government approvals. So, at this time, Guests aren’t able to purchase theme-park tickets or make theme-park reservations. Here at planDisney, we're anxiously awaiting more information about the phased reopening of Disneyland Resort, so I highly recommend keeping an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog, and on
Disneyland.com for all the latest updates and announcements.
You’re correct that once the theme parks reopen, theme-park capacity will be reduced with the help of a new park reservation system to help enable physical distancing. This new system will require all Guests to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Theme-park reservations will be subject to availability. Hopefully we’ll hEAR more about this new reservation system soon so we can start dreaming about our next getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth, Kelly!
In the meantime, I do have some good news for you! The
Downtown Disney District has begun a phased reopening, and most of the shops and dining locations are currently open! Just keep in mind that dining locations are currently only serving Guests on outdoor patios due to state and county guidelines. I’ve visited the
Downtown Disney District several times since it reopened last month, and have been very impressed with the enhanced cleanliness procedures and physical distancing in place!
For a list of shopping locations that are currently open,
click here. Also, for a list of dining locations that are currently open,
click here. I’ve dined at Naples Ristorante e Bar, Black Tap Burgers & Shakes, and Earl of Sandwich recently, and have enjoyed wonderful meals on their outdoor patios!
Before your visit, don’t forget to
check here for all the details you’ll need to know for a stress-free visit. Also, be sure to bring a face covering that
follows these guidelines for yourself and any Guests ages 2 and older.
Last but not least, since you mentioned visiting this weekend, I recommend
making a dining reservation in advance. That way, if parking fills up in the Simba Lot, you’ll be able to speak with a parking lot Cast Member to show proof of your reservation to gain parking access. You can find the Simba Lot (which is complimentary right now) at Disneyland Drive and Katella Ave.
Wishing you a weekend filled with pixie dust and magic, Kelly! I can’t wait to return to the theme parks when the time is right!
See ya’ real soon,
Kristin
