Hello! My hubby and 2 daughters well be at Disney from May 28th to June 5th. I booked Coronado Springs because it was such a great deal for a moderate resort but now I keep reading negative reviews. Is there a reason why it's such a great deal?

    Hi, Alicia!

I am personally a big fan of Coronado Springs. I love the room décor, the "Dig Site" main pool area, the largest hot tub on property, and the variety of dining choices.

This is not your typical Disney Resort. Because this is a convention resort, you do not have the huge number of families compared to family oriented resorts like the All-Star Resorts, which are almost chaotic at times! You will see more business professionals going to and from their meetings at Coronado Springs and fewer families.

My family enjoys the walks around this property, with its beautiful landscaping and charming buildings. A stroll around the lake, Lago Dorado, is a great way to start your day or to enjoy the resort at night.

I can understand why some people might not like this resort, especially if they are looking for a high energy atmosphere. This resort takes it down a notch for a more relaxing vacation. The other downside for some is the size of this resort. The buildings are spread out, so it can be a long walk to the main building for the lobby or dining. Bus stops are not a problem: There are several stops around the resort. The size and layout of Coronado Springs is similar to Caribbean Beach, another moderate resort that covers a lot of real estate!

If you want more of a Disney feel with a bit more tourist hustle and bustle, try Port Orleans Riverside. Riverside is a moderate resort, but has a bit more family activity going on. It will also put you a bit closer to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

For a different flare, stick with Coronado Springs, which is closer to Animal Kingdom.  It depends on what your family is looking for. It is nice to get a good deal, like you said you did with Coronado Springs, but it's only a good deal if you are happy with your choice.

Let me know if you have other questions about the resorts.

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
