Welcome to planDisney, Vonda!
There's nothing quite like a Walt Disney World Resort vacation in January to set a magical tone for the new year. Can you believe that yours is just one week away? There's no time to waste, so
let's talk transportation!
One of the incredible perks available to all Disney Resort hotel Guests is complimentary transportation to Walt Disney World's theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs, so no matter where to choose to hang your mouse ears, you'll be able to travel in style. Although magic carpets aren't yet an option, depending on the Disney Resort hotel you choose to call your magical home away from home (or simply the starting point of your journey to the theme parks), you’ll be able to traverse magical miles aboard buses, watercraft, a monorail, or the Disney Skyliner.
- Buses: Currently, all Disney Resort hotels offer bus transportation to the theme parks. It's important to keep in mind that if an alternate method of transportation connects your Disney Resort hotel to one of the theme parks, you won't typically find bus service to that particular park (such as Disney's Beach Club Resort and EPCOT). Did you know that you can use the My Disney Experience app to see when the next bus will be arriving at your hotel by simply selecting 'See Bus Times' from your hotel reservation's landing page? My husband and I regularly use this feature to help us decide whether or not we have time for a quick refill of our Resort-Refillable Mug before the next bus arrives.
- Watercraft: If you are looking to channel your inner Moana but won't be taking to the high seas aboard Disney Cruise Line, you can board water taxis connecting Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Fort Wilderness Resort, Grand Floridian Resort, and Wilderness Lodge to Magic Kingdom Park. Additionally, FriendShip Boats connect Guests of Disney's BoardWalk Inn, Beach Club Resort, and Yach Club Resort as well as both the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
- Monorail: I'm partial to the ease and nostalgia of the Walt Disney World Monorail, Vonda, and you can reach Magic Kingdom Park from Disney's Contemporary Resort, Polynesian Village Resort, and Grand Floridian Resort & Spa by hopping aboard! You can also reach EPCOT from these hotels via monorail by connecting through the Transportation & Ticket Center. Just keep in mind that you'll need to change monorails.
- Skyliner: I like to think that if Tarzan were to swing by Walt Disney World's theme parks he would exclusively use the Disney Skyliner. This aerial gondola system transports Guests from Disney's Riviera, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, and Art of Animal Resorts to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
If you aren’t sure of the most efficient route or transportation method at any given moment, Vonda, you can simply search for your destination in the My Disney Experience app and select ‘Get Directions’. My husband loves using this handy tool to test my knowledge!
I this helps and that your upcoming vacation is smooth sailing! If you need any additional transportation information, you’re always welcome to stop back by. I’m happy to help!
Thinking Happy Thoughts,
Lizzie
