Hi Mary! The holiday season is fast approaching and we are all getting excited about them at Walt Disney World! The Magic Kingdom will be the first park to undergo transformation as
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party starts up November 7. However, this does not mean that the resorts will be decked out quite yet. Other park and resort decorations will slowly be going up over the next three weeks but everything will be spectacular right after Thanksgiving!
The Grand Floridian resort has its gorgeous life size gingerbread house displayed in the lobby where they also offer some tasty treats for purchase. In the past they have offered a small gingerbread house for about $70 as well as gingerbread shingles, men, and ornaments. You can check out past pictures at the disneyfoodblog.com of some of these items as well as pricing from last year.
Dates when these decorations are erected are not given out but rather it becomes a surprise when suddenly the lobbys are transformed. Some years it is early and some years it is later. As far as purchasing items it has been done in person when you visit. If you are not going to be there during this time I suggest you ask the concierge at your upcoming vacation or call the hotel directly to inquire about getting something mailed to you. Shipping edible fragile items is difficult so I have my doubts they can do this but better to ask once the season begins.
