Hi Joanna, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
Big family visits to Walt Disney World are my favorite! My children have made the best memories with their grandparents at the Most Magical Place on Earth, and I know you are going to have a magical time together.
I’m happy to tell your kiddo that he doesn’t need to worry about key card access or charging privileges on his
MagicBand. All you’ll need to do is visit the front desk of your resort hotel and a Cast Member will take care of both things. He’ll be able to have both rooms linked on his MagicBand, and a Cast Member can link your credit card to his MagicBand for charging purposes. I recommend having both reservation numbers handy when you visit the front desk, and bring the person whose name is on the reservation for each room when you visit. This will make everything go a little faster. In my experience, I would have the other adults and Mouseketeers find a snack or a place to explore while this is being taken care of so you can focus and your very excited family members can have some fun.
If you haven’t already, I suggest calling Walt Disney World Resort Reservations at (407) 939-1936 to request connecting or adjoining rooms. Connecting rooms, which are rooms connected by an internal door, aren’t always available and can’t be guaranteed, but are nice when families need multiple rooms. Adjoining rooms are beside each other or across the hall; they are not connected internally, but it’s nice to be close by. We had these on a stay we shared with my parents, and it worked out great. My kids loved heading next door to Grandma and Grandpa’s room for snuggles!
Joanna, have so much fun doing your planning and Disney dreaming, and please come back and see us should you have more questions.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
