Hi Charles! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
Being able to charge purchases is probably my favorite feature of MagicBands. Souvenirs, snacks, and basically anything else almost anywhere around the entirety of Walt Disney World Resort, yes please! (I really love not needing to not carry a purse or backpack all day.) I also really appreciate that a PIN number is required; it's bad enough to lose your MagicBand, and it'd be even worse if whoever found it could go around charging endless Mickey Bars to my account.
I have three ways that you can set up a PIN number:
1) Log in to your
My Disney Experience account. Click the 'My Profile' button under the 'My Account' section, and from there click 'Payment Method.' You can set your four digit right there, and wah-lah, you're good to go.
2) About a week or two before your arrival, you'll receive an email with the option to go ahead and start the check-in process online. By using
Online Check-In you'll bypass a lot of the hassles (and lines!) of the normal guest registration process. (Side note: Let's pretend that you did check-in online, but still have a reason to stop by the front desk; most Walt Disney World Resort Hotels have dedicated Online Check-In queues to bypass the regular check-in line.)
3) You can set up your PIN number at regular check-in.
If you'd like for others in your reservation to be able to charge their MagicBands to the main card on file, I find it easiest to link their bands in the lobby after checking-in online, or to set them up during regular-style check-in. Otherwise they will have to create their own My Disney Experience accounts, connect to the main reservation, and then follow option number 1 from above.
