hi all i am hopping to be visiting from the UK in December my question is this i will be bringing my dear friend who is disabled when we last visited in 2018 Disney kindly awarded my friend with an assistance pass will the passes be available in December?

Hi, Jackie!  Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I'm so happy to hEAR that you will be visiting Walt Disney World Resort during the holiday season this yEAR!  Although our vacations may look a bit different in the upcoming months, you can be sure that magical memories will still be made!

One of the reasons that my family and I return to Walt Disney World Resort yEAR after yEAR is that they always go above and beyond to make the magic accessible to everyone.  My son has autism, and when we visit Walt Disney World Resort, we utilize Disability Access Service.  Disability Access Service is intended for Guests whose disability prevents them from waiting in a typical queue environment.  It sounds like this may have been the service that your friend used during your last visit.

When a Guest using Disability Access Service wishes to experience an attraction in one of the Walt Disney World theme parks, they can speak to a Cast Member at that attraction's entrance.  The Cast Member will issue the Guest a return time based on the attraction's current standby wait time.  In the past, when a Guest utilizing Disability Access Service would come back at their ride return time, they would access the attraction using the FastPass+ queue.  Since the FastPass+ service is temporarily paused and the FastPass+ queues are being used to aide in physical distancing, this may slightly affect how Disability Access Service operates.

I recently spoke to a Disability Services Cast Member.  They assured me that Disability Access Service will still be available when Walt Disney World Resort reopens.  Guests utilizing this service may simply need to report to a different location at their ride return time.  The Cast Member who issues you the ride return time will let you know where to report when it is time for you to experience the attraction.

It is worth noting that there is a wide range of accommodations that can be made for individuals with various disabilities, depending upon their own individual needs. When you arrive at one of the Walt Disney World theme parks, I recommend visiting Guest Relations to determine what types of services will be right for your friend.

Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
