Hoping to come to WDW in April, our daughter will be 19 months. Will be coming from the UK where time difference will be 5 hours. What is the best way to minimise effects for my daughter of the effects of jet lag? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Claire!

I have to travel around the world with my job at NASA so I understand how annoying jet lag can be!  Unfortunately, I have never found a fool proof way to avoid jet lag.  However, the symptoms can be attenuated.  In the week prior to departure, you could adjust the time your daughter gets up and what time she goes to bed; I would only do this in one hour increments (so you should start 5 or 6 days before you leave the United Kingdom).

There has been some research in the field that says exercise helps to overcome the symptoms of jet lag.  Thus, you might want to let your daughter run around a lot at one of the play areas in the parks (Dinosaur Land in Disney's Animal Kingdom has the best in my opinion) or at the resorts the first day you arrive.

Sorry I can't provide any more advice.  Good luck and have a magical time!
