We are hoping to come to Disney World at Christmastime. We aren't planning to go to Epcot during our stay, but we were wondering if there were any good locations to watch Illuminations outside of Epcot?

    Hi Natalie,

If you're still on the fence about making plans to visit Walt Disney World during the Holiday season, I hope I can sway you in the direction of deciding to go. With all of the decorations and special events, it's an amazing time to visit! Trust me, it'll be worth every penny!

You asked a great question! The only time I've tried to view Epcot's presentation of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth from outside of the park was from the Admiral Suite at Disney's Yacht Club Resort. While I thought this was probably the best vantage point to see the fireworks from outside of Epcot, it actually turned out to be a letdown.

The true essence of that performance comes from experiencing the combination of the fireworks, the soundtrack, and the Earth Globe positioned in the center of the World Showcase Lagoon. Unfortunately, that means that you really have to be around the World Showcase Promenade to enjoy this performance. You can see the portions of the higher-flying fireworks from outside of Epcot, but it's not the same as how you can enjoy the Magic Kingdom's fireworks from an outside vantage point.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

If your plans change a bit, and you end up finding time to visit Epcot, the presentations of Illuminations are enhanced slightly during the Holiday season. I won't spoil the surprises, but I think they've done the unthinkable and found a way to take an already awesome show and kick it up another notch.

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
