Hello Emily! So glad to welcome a fellow resident of the Keystone State to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! This member of the Disney Parks Moms Panel also happens to be a fisherman and I love your question about fishing in the waters available around both
Disney's Wilderness Lodge and the Walt Disney World Resort! So, let's explore the options for you!
Fishing on your own is permitted throughout the canals at
Disney's Fort Wilderness. There is a walking path that connects Disney's Fort Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Fort Wilderness. Enjoy seeing some great wildlife (deer and turkey) during this one-mile walk. Guests of this resort are permitted to fish the canals from shore throughout the campground. Rod and reel rentals are available at Disney's Fort Wilderness. While costs are subject to change, the last time I checked these items were available for rent for $6 for 30 minutes. You can rent these items from the Fort Wilderness Bike Barn. Live bait is also available for purchase for about the same cost.
If you are interested in getting onto the water at the Walt Disney World Resort, you can fish either Bay Lake or the Seven Seas Lagoon. These are the two largest bodies of water available for fishing at the Walt Disney World Resort. However, fishing here is only available through
guided fishing expeditions. You should know that largemouth bass have been stocked in these waters and they are plentiful and big! You can book a fishing excursion for two-to-four hours. Guides will pick you up from Fort Wilderness and Fort Wilderness Lodge. Please note that reservations for fishing excursions must be made 24-hours in advance by calling (407)WDW-BASS or (407)939-2277.
Emily, so glad to hear you are going to enjoy some fishing during your Walt Disney World Resort vacation! Fish on!
