Hoping to spend Thanksgiving Day @Magic Kingdom & have a meal at Liberty Tree Tavern/see the a parade (kids 8,12,13yo). Do you know if Santa will appear at the end of either the 3pm or 9pm parades? Would lunch/dinner be better considering parade times?

    Hi Jennifer!

I think spending Thanksgiving at the Walt Disney World Resort will be truly magical. I can’t think of a better way to spend the day than surrounded by family at such a fun and special place. I love that you are dining at Liberty Tree Tavern. This is one of my favorite restaurants at Magic Kingdom. What I love most about this Restaurant is the food. It reminds me of good old fashioned cooking. If I had to choose I would choose to dine for dinner but really it is just a personal preference. With Thanksgiving being such a popular day reservations tend to fill up quickly. What I would do is take whatever time is available for the meal.

At this time the schedule for Thanksgiving Day doesn’t seem to be released yet, therefore there are no times available yet for the parades that day. Typically the Festival of Fantasy Parade does begin at 3:00 P.M. It has been my experience that Santa Clause does not appear in this parade. The Main Street Electrical Parade doesn’t always start at the same time each night. Sometimes you may actually find that this parade may be offered twice in a night depending on the season. I do have to say that it has also been my experience that Santa Clause does not appear in this parade either. It is important to note that Character Experiences are always subject to change without notice.

If you are hoping to meet Santa you may be able to meet him at Candy Cane Garden located next to City Hall at Magic Kingdom Park. This meet and greet is not confirmed yet for this year but in the past this has been a great opportunity. If you decide to attend one of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parties Santa can also be seen on his float at the tail end of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. This party is a great way to get into the holiday spirit!
