Hello! We are hoping to reserve a trip in April for two days at Disney. Do you have any recommendations on what days to go to which park? We are looking at one day at MK and one day at Hollywood Studios. For example, are Mondays the lightest crowd days??

    Hi Kristin,

Welcome to planDisney, and greetings from a former Hoosier! I hope you're already feeling excited about your springtime getaway to The Most Magical Place on Earth!

When planning my own family vacations, I'll often check a few third-party crowd calendars to see what people are saying about crowd levels each day, but generally speaking, weekends and holidays are going to be the most popular days to visit. Throughout the course of a normal week, you won't see crowds fluctuate too much day to day unless there is a special event going on during your visit. For example, runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend is currently planned for March 31 - April 2, so if you have some flexibility, it might be best to avoid that following Monday in case Guests plan long weekend trips around that event.

Another tool I use to plan my itinerary is the park hours calendar. While details have not been released yet for next spring, I'd encourage you to keep an eye on that in case your preferred parks will be open longer on select days during your visit. While crowd levels could be a bit higher on days when parks are open longer, my family loves being in the parks as much as we possibly can!

Finally, did you know that ticket prices are lower during slower times? I like to peek at the 1-day, One Park Per Day ticket calendar to see if there are any lower-priced days during my vacation. That's a pretty good indication that Disney is expecting lower crowds that day.

None of these methods are an exact science, and I'd encourage you to visit whenever it works best for you and your Mouseketeers! In my opinion, it's more important to arrive early and have a rough idea in mind of all of the experiences you'd like to enjoy with a willingness to go wherever the magic takes you! With the complimentary Disney Genie service now available, you have a powerful itinerary-planning tool right at your fingertips. Of course, if you'd like to squeeze as much magic and fun as possible into your days, you can purchase Disney Genie+ and/or Individual Lightning Lane selections to maximize the number of experiences you'll be able to enjoy without waiting in traditional queues.

Thanks so much for bringing me your great question, Kristin, and please feel free to keep them coming. I'm sending pixie dust that all of your plans come together perfectly, and I hope you and your crew have a truly magical vacation together next spring!
