    Hoping to having some free time durring our trip next spring. Are you reqired to have a fishing licence? Is dock-side fishing available at or within walking distance of Beach Club Villas (thats where we are most likely staying)?

    Hi Chris! I too love to fish and have had some great success while visiting at Walt Disney World.

    Unfortunately, there isn't an option for fishing on your own near the Beach Club Villas. You can reserve a fishing excursion that will leave from the Yacht Club marina which is right next door but you will not be able to just throw a line into the waters near your resort.  I strongly suggest doing a fishing excursion and it lasts two hours and comes complete with the bait, guide, and boat.  My son and I have caught some huge bass during our trips and we have found the best places are the hidden spots your guide will take you to on Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. You can simply book a trip from any of the resorts which are on those waters such as Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, Contemporary, Polynesian, and the Grand Floridian. You do not have to be guests at the resort...simply pick the one you feel would be easiest for you to reach.

    If you want to try your luck on your own I can suggest Fort Wilderness. There are many small canals and a small lake where you can use your own pole. Bait can be purchased at the Bike Barn there by the small lake. There is no fishing on your own on any of the large Disney body of waters and all fishing is catch and release.  I haven't had as much luck with the Fort Wilderness fishing but still enjoy it as a therapeutic way to relax during our trips.
