Hi Stacey,
Welcome back! You've hit on one of my favorite topics: snacking around Epcot with my family. We're big fans of Mickey pretzels, popcorn and ice cream, of course, but one of the reasons we love Epcot is all the interesting tastes we can try around the World Showcase.
First let me say that you will be visiting during the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, and though the Outdoor Kitchens have not yet been announced, I'm certain they will have lots of sweet and savory bites to sample. I'm especially interested in how many new plant-based tastes will be added.
Because you are using the Disney Dining Plan, you will want to look for the DDP logo on the menus before you order. I'm not sure all of my suggestions are covered by the dining plan, but I wanted to share a few of my family's favorites to give you some options:
All the snacks at Choza de Margarita in the Mexico Pavilion, especially the empanadas, which come with a side of esquites (spicy corn with chipotle mayo, queso fresco and Tajin chile-lime powder). You can get a larger portion of esquites as a side. (The margaritas are tasty, too.)
The Norwegian treats at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe. Try a sweet pretzel, school bread or Lefse, a soft flatbread with cinnamon, sugar and butter.
Cool treats in the Japan pavilion: Green tea ice cream from Katsura Grill. Kakigori (Japanese shaved ice) or Kakigori with sweet milk topping from Kabuki Cafe. Kakigori also is available with an alcoholic sake topping. Or, for an adult beverage, check out the frozen beer at Kabuki or the kiosk inside the pavilion.
Pastries and desserts from Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie in the France Pavilion, especially the macarons, the croissants and, my favorite, the creme brulee.
A Canadian twist on savory snacks: maple popcorn or Ketchup Chips at the Canada popcorn cart.
Poutine at the Refreshment Port, either traditional or topped with beef brisket.
The side dishes or the vegetarian platter at Tangierine Cafe in the Morocco pavilion. It’s not a snack per se, but my family likes to share the vegetarian platter as a savory snack of olives, hummus, tabouleh, lentils salad, falafel and bread. Or sometimes we just grab a side of the marinated olives as a snack.
Don't forget to check out the shops of the World Showcase for snacks from the native countries as well, particularly Mitsukashi in Japan, The Trading Post in Canada and, of course, Karamell-Kuche in Germany. Some of those items also are included in the dining plan.
I hope this gives you some good ideas for snacking your way through Epcot and discovering new favorites of your own, Stacey. Thanks again for being a loyal fan of the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Enjoy!
