I am hoping to attend a conference at the Grand Floridian in June 2020. I wanted to buy the park tickets a head of time for budgeting purposes. If I am unable to attend for any reason, will my tickets still be usable?

Greetings Rita! A conference at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa? Sounds like a wonderful reason to visit Walt Disney World! I always like to buy my Walt Disney World theme park tickets as soon as I know when I'll be visiting. That way, at least one part of my trip is completely paid for in advance, and I am ready to reserve FastPass+ at the earliest possible date. I am happy to help with your ticket question.

First, I'll share some important rules regarding Walt Disney World theme park tickets. While theme park tickets are nonrefundable, in the event that you purchase tickets for your June trip and are not able to use them, you have options. As long as the tickets have never been used, you may transfer them to a friend or family member who is able to go in your stead.

If you decide not to use your ticket in June, but apply it to a future trip, you can modify the start date of the ticket right up until its original start date. This can be done through My Disney Experience or by calling the Disney Reservation Center and speaking with a Cast Member specializing in existing tickets. Keep in mind that the price of your ticket may change with a different start date. While you will not be charged a change fee, you will be responsible for paying the difference if you move to a higher priced start date. If modifications to your unused ticket are needed after the start date, you can visit any Guest Relations window at the Walt Disney World Resort or the Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs.

One more option is to purchase a ticket with the Flexible Date Option. Once you click to purchase theme park tickets and select your date, click on "Continue," and you can then choose to add on the Flexible Date Option. With this option, you don’t have to choose specific dates. The first day of use of your ticket can be any day on or before December 31, 2020. In addition, you get more days to use your ticket. When you add this option, you have 14 days (from first use) to use all your ticket days.

Rita, I hope you are able to visit the theme parks during your conference, but if you aren't, rest assured your tickets will not go to waste.

Have a great, big, beautiful tomorrow!
