I am hoping that you can answer my question, my husband and I will be heading to WDW in January - we have the dining plan. We are not big dessert eaters, do you think we may be able to substitute for an appetizer?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Dee! I’m glad to hEAR about your upcoming couple’s vacation to the Most Magical Place on Earth! You’ll adore spending quality time with each other experiencing real pixie dust!

When it comes to the Disney Dining Plan, substitutions are sometimes acceptable, depending on which plan you have and where you are dining. Desserts can sometimes be swapped for a salad, fruit or small appetizer, though you will have to speak with the server at the establishment. At many Quick Service locations, it’s a fine swap, but at places like Kona, the workflow can sometimes not allow for substitutions. I hope that you can get the flavors you are looking for when you sit down to eat!

If you aren’t big dessert eaters, make sure you save room for at least one Mickey Ice Cream bar while on vacation. It’s a classic treat that you simply must try. If you need more help navigating the Disney Dining Plan, please let me know. You’ve got friend in me! ~ Lindsey P.
