I hope this is something someone can help me with. I am 71 years old and am renting a scooter for the first time. I am having nightmares about being stranded in the park and running out of power. Is this a thing that happens often.

Hello Marlene and thanks so much for bringing your valued question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Knowing that at 71 years young you've planned a magical visit to Walt Disney World Resort really does make my heart happy Marlene!
You've made such a great decision by planning to utilise ECV Rentals during your stay at Walt Disney World Resort as an ECV or scooter will enable you to gain access to most everything Disney has to offer without the challenge of having any unnecessary or extra walking.
Please let me offer some reassurance that when renting an Electric Convenience Vehicle direct from Disney any Cast Member would be only too glad to assist you should your rental ECV fail or become inactive at any time.
Although I don't believe at present there are any designated ECV charging stations within the Disney Theme Parks for Guests with their own ECV,  I'm fairly sure you would be able to ask a helpful Cast Member to assist in directing you towards a power point where it would be convenient to plug-in for a quick re-charge.  Or perhaps stop by an ECV rental location or even Guest Relations to gain the assistance of a knowledgable Cast Member.  Plus be sure to always carry along with you your ECV charging lead and plug!
A useful top know-how tip for optimum ECV use is to ensure the battery is always placed on charge overnight, during every night of your stay.
I hope I've managed to allay your fears of using an ECV or scooter for the very 1st time, because Walt Disney World Resort is a place where the magic is real and dreams really can come true!
    Have a great Disney day.
