to hop or not to hop? it's our first trip with kids (5, 3 & 1), sept 15-22. should we get a park hopper ticket or will we be too pooped to get to more than one park a day? will the parks be open late enough to be worth going back out after a midday

    Hi Stacy,

I really like the park hopper pass, especially when I'm traveling with small children.  Your children may be different than mine, but when we're at Disney World, they wake up at the crack of dawn.  We take advantage of that and usually make early dining reservations and head to the parks for the extra magic hour.  You'll be surprised how many attractions you can ride with that one extra hour.  Plus, your children will be wide awake and eager to start the day.

At about 11:00, when the crowds start filling in.  We start looking for lunch and head back to the resort for a swim or nap.

After a much needed rest, we head off to a different park - one that doesn't have extra magic hours.  This way we can avoid the larger crowds.  We enjoy dinner together, a few attractions, and maybe even some fireworks if we still have energy.

The great thing about going in September is that even though the hours are shortened, so are the crowds.  It's a really pleasant time to be in the parks.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
