In all honesty, how much does the Marathon in January affect crowds levels in the parks and resorts??? We have a trip booked for Jan 5-12, 2013 and I am getting nervous that the Marathon may make this a more crowded time than I had originally thought.

    Hi Mark!

I understand your uneasiness about planning your trip during a big event at Disney.  You may feel like you see runners everywhere, but the crowd levels are really not that bad.

You can find very accurate crowd level predictions on www.touringplans.com.  For your dates, this is what they have predicted:

    Jan. 5:  5 out of 10
    Jan. 6:  3 out of 10
    Jan. 7:  4 out of 10
    Jan. 8:  2 out of 10
    Jan. 9:  3 out of 10
    Jan. 10: 3 out of 10
    Jan. 11: 4 out of 10
    Jan. 12: 7 out of 10

This is actually a GREAT crowd level prediction.  The highest day is a 7 on that Saturday.  If you are going to a park on that Saturday, just don't go to the Magic Kingdom.  This is where a lot of the runners will be since it is the most well-known of the Disney parks and a lot of runners will only go to one park.

If this were the week of my vacation, I would be very pleased with the crowd level predictions.  It's about as good as it gets!

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions!
