We are a home-schooling family with 4 kids and are considering staying at AOA in a family suite in mid May to have better weather and avoid crowds. Is that a good time time to go vs late Aug/ early Sept? We've hit 3 hurricanes in our last 2 trips there.

    Hi Craig!

We are also a home-schooling family, and I often joke that we do it so we can go to Disney World when it isn't hot and crowded:)

I think your family will love the Art of Animation Resort.  It is truly amazing!

It looks like mid-May is a great time to be there, and you should be clear of the hurricane season.  One of my favorite resources when planning our trips is the crowd prediction calendar from Touring Plans.  (www.touringplans.com)  I do pay the yearly fee, but this gives me access to crowd predictions for an entire year, so we can plan our trips.  The numbers are very accurate, and they are predicting mid-May dates to be around a 4 and 5 out of 10.  (with 10 being really crowded)

May weather can be warm, but is usually very pleasant, with highs around 88 and lows around 65 degrees.

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions.
