Hi there Sondra, I'd like to welcome you to planDisney!

There's a special place in my heart for Disney fans who enjoy the parks after darkness falls, and with more and more specially-ticketed events popping up throughout the year there can seemingly be a little bit of murkiness if you're one of the guests already in the theme parks when these occur. Whether it's your first time ever watching Mickey face off against Maleficent or are among the devoted fans eager to spot them "bagging the fish", I'm absolutely happy to help you with a few insights from our Cast Member friends:

Taking a look at the Hours & Events Calendar for June 19, 2024 - it does indeed show that Disney's Hollywood Studios is scheduled to close at 9:00 P.M. while Fantasmic! is scheduled for a 9:30 P.M. showtime under Fireworks & Nighttime Entertainment. Checking with one of the Guest Relations Cast Members, they let me know that not only should day guests be able to see this showtime despite it starting after the posted park opening hours, but that this is perfectly normal and expected.

I recently watched Fantasmic! on an evening when Disney After Hours at Disney's Hollywood Studios was also taking place, and since guests with these tickets can begin entering as early as 7:00 P.M. many of them will choose to watch the show and can make it a bit more competitive for seating. From my personal experience observing how quickly they reached capacity, I highly recommend making sure that you're already in line for Fantasmic! well before 9:00 P.M. if you're aiming at having a better viewing spot, especially since there's only one showtime compared to select dates throughout the year when two showtimes may be scheduled and spread out the crowds of spectators.

Standby queues for rides and attractions will close to day guests promptly at the posted park hours and only permit those with Disney After Hours admission beyond that time, however it isn't uncommon for guests to be able to remain within the theme parks after closing time. This could be due to those hopping into a queue right at the very end of their day, spending some time shopping or dining - or like in your case, watching a nighttime spectacular. Perhaps one day you'll be among the Disney After Hours folks roaming the parks well into the night but we hope to see you back at planDisney again for any other tips or tricks until then!
