Holiday Gingerbread House. I know because of the remodel at the Grand Floridian they won't have the giant Gingerbread house there this year. Will they be building the house at a different location this year? We really want to see it. Thanks, Matt

Hi there, Matt! Welcome to planDisney, and thank you so much for bringing such a sweet holiday question our way. I can tell you’re already dreaming of the festive season at Walt Disney World Resort!

Because of the refurbishments currently happening at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the iconic life-sized Gingerbread House will unfortunately not be returning this year at the lobby or elsewhere. It has become such a cherished holiday tradition for many Guests, myself included, so it’s always a very bittersweet when it isn’t part of the lineup.

That being said, there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy gingerbread displays across Walt Disney World Resort. Over the years, other resorts have created their own seasonal masterpieces to keep the gingerbread magic alive. The Contemporary Resort often features a beautiful gingerbread castle, the Yacht Club and Beach Club usually offer displays with a nautical touch, including the Beach Club’s impressive gingerbread carousel, and the BoardWalk Inn often has whimsical gingerbread décor with playful details. In addition, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge has been known to feature intricate gingerbread and chocolate sculptures inspired by the resort’s theme.

These displays can vary from year to year, which makes them especially fun to seek out during the holiday season. Because offerings change, the best way to know exactly what to expect during your visit is to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog as the holidays draw closer. That’s where Disney will share all the official details, including which resorts will be hosting gingerbread creations for the season.

Matt, I hope this gives you a better idea of what to expect during your holiday trip. Even though the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House will be on pause this year, there will still be plenty of festive displays to explore and enjoy as part of your visit. If you have any other questions for us, please don't hesitate to come right back! We are always available and more than happy to help here at planDisney. Have a magical day!

    Warm hugs,
