Our holiday dates are 20/12 until 05/01. my children would like to visit magical kingdom Christmas day and boxing day, Christmas day to watch shows and parades, boxing day to spend the day on the rides. Do you think this is a good idea?

    Hi Andrea,

You are visiting Walt Disney World at a wonderful time of year.  The theme parks are absolutely lovely with their winter holiday decorations!

I think that you should know that on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day, Magic Kingdom will be very crowded.  In fact, Christmas Day is one of the most crowded days of the year.  If your children really want to spend these days at the Magic Kingdom, then you should, but you should be prepared for extremely heavy crowds.  If you can convince your children to go to the Magic Kingdom on other days which are further away from Christmas during your trip, you would likely experience lower crowds and be able to experience more attractions.  However, if you do decide to visit the Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, let me share some tips for how to make the most of these days.

I suggest that on both days you arrive as early as you can, even 30 minutes before park opening if you can.  I think that if you are going to go to the Magic Kingdom on both of these days, that you have a good plan: shows and parades on Christmas Day followed by rides on Boxing Day.  On Christmas, be sure to arrive very early for shows and parades that you want to see so that you can get a good spot.  On Boxing Day, take advantage of Disney's FASTPASS service to decrease some of your ride wait times.  If you want dining reservations at table service restaurants, you should try to make those now.  If you are planning to eat at counter service restaurants, I suggest going at times that are slightly off from the traditional times - maybe lunch at 11:00 a.m. or dinner at 4:00 p.m.

I hope that these suggestions help you to have a great time on Christmas Day and Boxing Day at Magic Kingdom, Andrea.  Have a great time planning, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
