Are holiday cruises (i.e. New Year's Eve) eligible for the 10% discount if we book onboard? Or are these part of the blackout dates? I'm trying to decide if I should book opening day or wait a few weeks when we're on a cruise. Thank you!

    Hey, howdy, hey, Tammy!

Yee-haw! It's time for new Fall 2027 & Spring 2028 itineraries! We've been waiting for this all Summer. And it's finally here. The variety of new itineraries has captured my imagination.

My family is also looking forward to a New Year's Eve aboard a special Disney cruise. We loved our past New Year's Eve cruises so much, we decided to make it an intermittent family tradition. But I see your point. Whether it is better to book right away when new itineraries become available or to wait to make a placeholder reservation through the onboard offer during an upcoming cruise could mean potentially significant savings.

My recommendation for you is based on whether you are interested in a particular stateroom or stateroom category. I just finished booking one of the new itineraries aboard the Disney Wish out of New York City. I'm really glad I didn't wait longer than I did. I noticed that many stateroom categories were selling out very quickly for our sailing. If you have your eyes on a popular stateroom category, I recommend acting quickly to secure your reservation.

But if the stateroom category isn't a high-priority consideration for you, then I would say it's worth checking the list of blockout dates on the onboard offer page. (If you are planning to book a Concierge stateroom, be sure to check the Concierge blockout list on the same page too.) If you don't see your desired ship and cruise date on the list, you should be good to go for planning to use an onboard offer placeholder reservation to save on your intended cruise! Keep in mind that the blockout list may be updated from time to time, particularly as new itineraries and new ships are announced.

I hope that helps with the decision of whether to book now or after obtaining a placeholder reservation. Whichever way you decide to go, I'm sure you will have a most magical time aboard the Disney Cruise Line.

As you continue to plan your future Disney cruise, we hope to "see ya real soon" here at planDisney. It would be our pleasure to provide any additional advice and support we can.

    Have a magical cruise, Tammy!
