Hi there, Douglas, and welcome to planDisney! Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation will be here before you know it, and now is a great time to think about details like dining. Douglas, I have a feeling that you’re going to love having the Disney Dining Plan even more when I tell you that you don’t necessarily need an Advance Dining Reservation to enjoy a table service meal during your vacation. While an Advance Dining Reservation is free to make for most restaurants, and cancellable without penalty until two hours before your reservation (for most dining experiences), you have some other options to consider. Many table service restaurants offer an option in the My Disney Experience Mobile App that says “Join Walk-Up List” - this allows you to be a bit more spontaneous with your planning by virtually getting in line at a nearby restaurant. You’ll receive a notification on your phone when your table is ready and it’s time to check in. You can use the map feature in the My Disney Experience Mobile App to view "Dining" and also see the current estimated wait time at many of the table service restaurants, so you can make a decision about whether to stop for a relaxing table service meal. At this time, quick service meals and table service meals are not interchangeable or able to be substituted. Some of my favorite table service restaurants include:
1. Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen - come for the “punny” menu, stay for the delicious offerings and cocktails. 2. Garden Grill Restaurant - enjoy your favorite comfort foods with table side visits from many of your favorite Disney Characters like Chip 'n’ Dale!3. Sanaa - African and Indian flavors abound at this beautiful restaurant that features views of the Savanna. Douglas, I hope this is helpful as you continue to plan your vacation! Please stop back by planDisney with any other questions you have as you continue the exciting countdown to your arrival!Bon appetit!Jennifer
