Hiya right back, Traci! Thanks so much for visiting us at planDisney with your question. I love helping Guests like you plan visits to the Happiest Place on Earth so you can make magical memories with your dear ones as I have with mine.
Not only is rest at your hotel allowed, but it’s also highly recommended, in my opinion! The beauty of staying at a
Disneyland Resort Hotel or
Good Neighbor Hotel walking distance from the parks is that you CAN take a break during the day. A midday rest at the hotel helps refuel us to stay at the parks later at night, which is exciting and special in a different way - there's a unique energy being there after dark, and seeing all the lands and attractions lighted up is really beautiful. Riding
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at night is one of my favorite things to do! Sometimes the standby queues at night are shorter too.
Also, by going back to the hotel during the day, we can bring along additional layers for the evening if needed, replenish water and snacks, and grab anything we forgot earlier. On a hot day, there’s nothing like putting your feet up in your air-conditioned hotel room to relax! It’s also useful to set down any shopping you did earlier to lighten your load as you head back to the parks.
Just keep your mobile phone handy once you’re ready to re-enter the parks, and the lovely Cast Member at the entrance will scan your ticket. Or, if you have a paper ticket, have that bar code handy. If you have a
Park Hopper Ticket, your reservation reflects where you need to start your day, but after 1:00 p.m., you can re-enter at either park and hop back and forth between the two parks as much as you’d like. Fun fact – on my recent trip I counted that it took me only 116 steps to walk gate to gate from one park to the other! This is how close the two parks are and it’s so convenient.
My family and I will be at the parks in a couple of weeks, and we can’t wait. Visiting during the
Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival is a must for us, so we can sample the unique and tasty small bites throughout the Festival Marketplaces. It’s quite possibly the only time I will eat peanut butter and jelly inspired mac and cheese. Have I piqued your interest?! Check out the
foodie guide to see what you might like to try when you’re there!
Wishing you a magical, wonderful visit! Come back and see us if you have any more questions!
