Hiya, pals! Love the reimagining of the DPMP as planDisney! Do you have any insight as to whether our placeholder bookings with DCL will have an extended timeline for sailing due to the closures? We’d love more flexibility given the uncertainty. Thank you!

    Hi Amy!

Greetings and welcome aboard planDisney. Gosh, I really love saying that!

Booking a future cruise or placeholder while onboard has some great perks...I'm so glad you took advantage of them. After checking with my friends at Disney Cruise Line, they tell me that existing placeholders set to expire can be extended out to March 31, 2022 IF they are moved to a new reservation. If you have a placeholder set to expire before you think you will set sail, don’t despair! You can simply choose another itinerary and that will be what is called a “park date.” Park your reservation on a new sailing and the placeholder travels with it (up until March 31, 2022). Please note that if there is a difference in the deposit amount when you change sail dates, you would be required to pay that amount when moving it.

Of course, this is always subject to change, so I recommend you talk to a Disney Cruise Line Vacation Planning Specialist or your travel agent to work out the details. Currently, you can only book cruises through December 2021, but keep a weather eye on announcements about early 2022 itineraries on Disney Cruise Line's website or the Disney Parks Blog

Have you heard about Cruise Date Flexibility? This modification of Disney Cruise Line’s standard booking policy gives Guests the ability to tweak their plans should the need arise. This policy applies to any cruises booked by August 31, 2020 for sailings through March 2021. If necessary, you may change your sail date up to 15 days prior to departure.

With all this talk about sailing, it makes me want to be on a Disney ship! To pass the time, I wanted to share a few ideas with you that will keep the MAGIC alive.

-Watch a full-length performance of "Tangled: The Musical."

-Create a FANTASY-filled Pirate Night at home, complete with games, food, and costume ideas.

-Bake Palo’s DREAMy Chocolate Soufflé and wow your family and friends!

-WONDER at a virtual viewing of “Beauty and the Beast” from the Walt Disney Theatre on the Disney Dream!

Amy, we’ll keep a placeholder here at planDisney for you to return anytime with more great questions. Whenever you set sail, wishing you a fabulous adventure at sea!

    Happy Sailing!
