Hiya! Very excited to visit both Magic Kingdom and Epcot next week for extended evening hours, as I’m staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Do we need a theme park reservation for the extended hours park, or can we hop into it after visiting another park?

    Howdy, Amanda! Welcome to planDisney!

The final count down to your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is officially ON! Can you believe that in just a week from now, you will be off enjoying Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary Celebration? How fabulous! There will be so much to enjoy during this special time, so I just know you'll love it all. But, if you ask me, nothing tops the stunning Beacons of Magic at all four theme parks. You've never seen the theme park icons quite like this, transformed into a glimmering EARidescent rainbow of colors and magic. I'll tell you, the first time I saw them, they took my breath away! So, be sure to keep an eye on your My Disney Experience app, where you’ll find each evening's show times. I promise you won’t want to miss it!

So, let’s talk about Disney’s Park Pass Reservation system. A reservation is required for only the first park you plan to visit each day. Then, if you've purchased the Park Hopper Option, you can hop over to another park after 2 p.m. each afternoon. So, if you’d like to take advantage of the Extended Evening Theme Park Hours after visiting another park that same day, you will need to have the Park Hopper Option added to your ticket. If you have not purchased the Park Hopper Option, you will only be able to visit one park per day. So, in that case, you will want to make your Park Pass Reservation for either EPCOT or Magic Kingdom, depending on which park is open for the extended hours.

Amanda, I’m happy to hear you’ll be staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. It’s one of my favorite resorts and has so much more than just breathtaking savanna views. One of my favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World is Sanaa, with its world-famous Indian-style Bread Service. You might even spot an animal or two, so I recommend trying it out!

I hope you found this answer helpful! As you continue to plan for your visit, know that we are here to help you make the most of your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. So, please visit us again with any questions you may have.

    Have a magical day!
