Hiya we are due to land in Orlando on May 20 for our first ever visit with our 6 ur old. Our 1st park day is a Saturday we are thinking of animal kingdom as it may be quieter but would you do magic kingdom as your 1st? Also any idea when fantasmic is back

    Hey, Charlotte! Welcome to planDisney.

I don't think there is a wrong answer to your question. Each of the four Theme Parks is uniquely magical in its own way. I have a deep love for Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Everything about it—from the theming to the landscapes, to the music, to the attractions, to the food—is enchanting. Your 6-year-old is going to adore exploring and experiencing everything Disney's Animal Kingdom has to offer. I'd recommend getting there for opening and heading straight for Kilimanjaro Safaris. Since it's a little cooler first thing in the morning, the animals are far more active. My little Wilderness Explorer was mesmerized by her first safari adventure. I'm sure your Mouseketeer will also be captivated by Disney KiteTails. There are multiple shows throughout the day and each one is slightly different. Lastly, once you work up an appetite, I'd recommend going to Satu'li Canteen for some delicious and fresh grub (the grilled chicken bowl is the way to go).

Having said all that, whenever we visit The Most Magical Place on Earth as a family, we always visit Magic Kingdom Park on our first day. There's nothing quite like entering those iconic entrance gates, hearing that charming music, smelling the chocolate from the Main Steet Confectionary, turning the corner onto Main Street, U.S.A., and catching that first glimpse of Cinderella Castle. We always make sure we capture that moment on video. Also, there's so much to do at Magic Kingdom Park for 6-year-olds. Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan's Flight, Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Mad Tea Party, and "it's a small world" are certainly family favorites. My own little thrill-seeking princess loves Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. If that wasn't enough, your Mouseketeer will be in awe of the Festival of Fantasy Parade. You can even meet my friend, Mickey Mouse, on your first day! How cool is that?! Finally, what could be better than ending your first day by watching Disney Enchantment? Start your holiday with a bang!

Charlotte, we haven't been told the exact date when Fantasmic! will be returning. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for an announcement. It's my favorite nighttime spectacular (and my kiddos haven't seen it yet!). You can keep visiting Disney Parks Blog to keep up to date with any exciting announcements. However, my personal opinion is that I doubt it will be back in time for your trip. However, let's keep wishing upon a star.

As we say in Liverpool, I hope you have an absolute "belter" of a holiday, Charlotte. May all your dreams come true.
